Helical

The goal of this project is to develop tools and techniques for lowering the barrier to entry and increasing the reliability and reusability of software-defined and software-mediated experiments. This project focuses on a specific method – domain-specific language design – to effectuate our goal of formalizing the expression of research hypotheses, the execution of data collection (i.e., experiments), and the generation of valid statistical analyses. Our approach includes building corpora of existing experiments and encoding new experiments in our language(s). These corpora will be used to validate our work and to support our broader goal of facilitating replicable science. We are especially interested in providing support for software-defined experiments in contexts that include uncontrolled variability (e.g., human behavior).
